disciplines, three day eventing, dressage and foxhunting left a craving for something deeper and more meaningful with her horses. Nancy began experimenting with theories and ideas of equine psychology and behavior, a desire to understand horses better in order to be able to shape and change negative patterns, studying with such notables as Linda Tellington-Jones and founder of Centered Riding, Sally Swift. Turning her keen interest for dance and movement into a teaching career, morphing those same ideas into helping students become safer, more effective riders, Nancy became a certified "Centered Riding" instructor, graduated from the British Horse Society, founded and became Educational Director of the Treasure Coast Riding Club and an instructor for Pony Club.
After seeing Pat and Linda Parelli in a life changing demonstration in '01, Nancy has devoted her considerable energy and attention to the study of "natural horsemanship" in all of its various forms. She credits fellow Colt Start Connection trainer Gary Itzstein, as well as Linda Parelli, living legend Ray Hunt, Clinton Anderson, John and Josh Lyons, Dennis Reis , Linda Tellington-Jones, Sally Swift, the late Dr. Reiner Klimke and the Dog Whisperer, Cesar Milan all of whom she has worked with personally, with her training and development as a horseman. Nancy also studies the methods of Craig Cameron, Chris Cox, GaWaNi Pony Boy, Monty Roberts and Walter Zettle.
Specializing in development of the adult, middle-aged female horse-owner, Nancy has helped hundreds of women gain a greater understanding of the all-important role of leadership with horses, to a group that has not grown up with these ideals. Her real calling-card is that as an instructor, teacher and guide for the human/horse partnership, more so than as a horse trainer. Nancy enjoys working with challenging horses; young horses are a particularly joyful experience for her as she exposes these fresh minds to their new responsibilities. Using their natural instinct of herd psychology, starting young horses "naturally" has become a successful aspect of her career. Nancy particularly enjoys helping the everyday horse owner to read, understand and develop appropriate strategies for the relationship with their own horses. Ralph DeSisto, Nancy's husband of 20 years designed and built Fox Grove Equestrian Center as a living, loving tribute to his wife and as a learning center for the exploration and study of Natural Horsemanship.

Nancy DeSisto returned to horses as an adult after a decade of teaching and competing as a world-class competitive ballroom dancer. A lifetime of loving horses, studying and successfully competing in traditional
